ADEPT / CIPFA webinar - Towards Net Zero and a Green Recovery
Towards Net Zero and a Green Recovery, 3rd December 2pm-3pm
As the Government prepares to set out its Net Zero Strategy, the Committee on Climate Change will publish its 6th carbon budget in December. This will undoubtedly build on their annual report to Parliament published in the summer, which urged the Government to secure a green and resilient economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this webinar, CCC Chairman Lord Deben will describe the key role that local authorities have in reducing emissions and helping places adapt to a changing climate. He will make recommendations to Government about how it can accelerate the delivery of net zero by local authorities, and recommendations to local authorities about how they can have the biggest impact. We will hear from Nigel Riglar, ADEPT President about how Place Directors and Finance Directors need to work together, and hear how Hampshire County Council has worked with the Carbon Trust to develop practical tools for integrating climate impact assessments into their policy and budget decisions.
