Lunch & Learn with Brightly Software
Wednesday 30th July, 12pm-12.45pm
Proactive, predictive asset management – how to be a highways hero
This lunch and learn will discuss strategic asset management, explaining the difference between tactical and strategic asset management, and specifically how proactive predictive asset management can provide decision makers with the ability to see the future outcomes of today’s decisions. How will a budget freeze impact asset conditions? How much will asset condition improve with a budget increase? You will learn how proactive predictive asset management can support the development of long-term optimised maintenance plans, across all asset classes, and discuss the tools to manage the network as a portfolio of associated assets and break away from management by asset class silo. The session will also discuss the benefits of moving away from a “worst first” approach, where all of your capital maintenance budget is spent on a few expensive schemes as you struggle to arrest the decline of the network. By optimising your approach, cheaper, and less carbon intensive, maintenance activities can be planned and delivered at the optimum time resulting in reduced reactive maintenance and prevent the need for more expensive invasive schemes at a later date.
