Professional development opportunity: Policy Officers for ADEPT
Looking for a good professional development opportunity?
ADEPT is looking for individuals who think strategically, have high political awareness and are interested in working with other ADEPT members, central government and our business sector partners to deliver sustainable growth. They need to be good communicators (written and verbal), resourceful and organised, and have a good working knowledge of one or more of the areas of interest to ADEPT: the economy, environment, planning and transport.
This is a great opportunity to work with a growing and outward looking organisation that represents place based services across the country. In particular we are looking for people who are interested in working with the Transport Board or the Planning, Housing & Regeneration Board. The remit of the role is to help shape the work and outcomes of the board, for example by drafting responses to government consultations, liaising with partner organisations, helping with media inquiries, running technical workshops and developing policy positions on key issues. The individuals would work very closely with the Subject Board Chairs.
What are the benefits for the individual and your authority? The roles offer opportunities to come together with colleagues from different professional backgrounds to discuss the issues we face every day. It will include active engagement with key Government departments and agencies. There will be access to best practice, R&D activities, peer support and shared expertise. There is the opportunity to attend the ADEPT Annual Conference in November as well as workshops and seminars run by other boards and working groups.
Whilst we cannot pay salary costs, we would reimburse travel and subsistence costs (including the costs of attending the Annual Conference).
The amount of time which the host employer is able to give this individual to be able to work with ADEPT is negotiable, as is the length of any arrangement.
Interested individuals are asked to submit an initial Expression of Interest.
